All the pregnancy books say that you should talk to your baby. They can hear you and will start to recognize your voice. I don't know why, but up until this point I have felt plain silly, sitting by myself, or infront of other people, and having a conversation with my stomach. I guess its still hard for me to grasp the fact that there is a baby girl inside of me. Well, this weekend I had a wakeup call. My baby tried to come too early.  I started having regular contractions and my cervix dilated two centimeters. I am 29 weeks pregnant. She's not supposed to come until at least 36 weeks. I watched as my nurses talked to my stomach and thought, if they can do it, I definitely can. I spent the weekend in the hospital pleading with my baby girl to stay put and I prayed to God that if she didn't she would still be okay. My prayers were answered and my baby girl isn't here yet. She's safely waiting in the womb where she belongs. This whole episode has taught me a few t...

Depending on what type of pregnancy calendar you use, the 3rd Trimester either starts on 27 or 28 weeks. I am right in the middle of those weeks. So, I thought it would be fitting to start today. I took some pictures yesterday... As you can tell, at this point, I am happy, tired, getting bigger and a little bit crazed (referring to the first picture). Here's a little questionnaire to let you know more... How far along?  27 Weeks Total weight gain/loss:  18 pounds Maternity clothes?  Yes indeed. My favorite brand is target. The pants are super comfy. Sleep:  Its getting worse the bigger I get: More trips to the bathroom, shifting from left to right side during the night, and I feel like I am a lighter sleeper now. But, Phil and I just invested in a memory foam mattress topper and that has helped a ton. :) Best moment this week:  Seeing baby girl from the outside of my tummy. I must admit, it's kinda weird. My girl has been moving...finally. I didn't start feeling her until about 22 or 23 weeks, which is later than most people do. And when I finally did start feeling her, it wasn't flutterings or butterflies, it was kicks and punches. I guess my girl has some spunk. I can't see her moving from the outside of my stomach yet, but  the most exciting thing happened last weekend.  Phil felt her. :-)  We were sitting in a theater watching a new movie and I was pigging out on some popcorn, when suddenly she decided it was time to dance. I had never felt her move that much. So, I grabbed Phil's hand and placed it on my stomach. He concentrated for a moment and then suddenly his eyes got wide. He felt her for the first time. We both smiled at each other, happy that we could share this amazing thing: the creation of a mini us.  So I know all of you are wondering, what does it feel like? Aloha ya all, Break has been so refreshing and sadly its about over. I start work again on Monday teaching another EIL class at  BYU-Hawaii, but before that happens I wanted to share my break with you. It all started out with Graduation. My brother-in-law Felix graduated, as well as former roommate and one of my best friends Carla, and yes that is a cheese burger lei that Felix is sporting.  Next, we flew to the Big Island to visit my Dad and Step-mom Theresa. Kiholo Bay- also known by my family as Turtle Bay. Turtles are constantly sunbathing  there. We stayed at one of my best friend's beach house in Kona and enjoyed the sunshine, ocean, as well as the sunsets. It's a beautiful place. I would highly recommend staying there. So, the results are in. A gender was determined and the baby is... (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) ................... .......... ... A Girl! Here are the photos we got from the ultrasound Phil and I are extremely excited. Especially me, since I have been kinda hoping for a girl. It's funny, because growing up I always thought I would want a boy first (since my family started that way), but it seems since I became pregnant this hope ignited within me to have a girl. The night before the ultrasound I even had a dream that we found out it was a girl at the ultrasound. So, I guess its meant to be. On our way home, Phil and I couldn't resist picking up a few things for our baby girl. Here is what we got. Let the spending begin...haha
