Learning to Talk
All the pregnancy books say that you should talk to your baby. They can hear you and will start to recognize your voice. I don't know why, but up until this point I have felt plain silly, sitting by myself, or infront of other people, and having a conversation with my stomach. I guess its still hard for me to grasp the fact that there is a baby girl inside of me.
Well, this weekend I had a wakeup call. My baby tried to come too early. I started having regular contractions and my cervix dilated two centimeters. I am 29 weeks pregnant. She's not supposed to come until at least 36 weeks. I watched as my nurses talked to my stomach and thought, if they can do it, I definitely can. I spent the weekend in the hospital pleading with my baby girl to stay put and I prayed to God that if she didn't she would still be okay.
My prayers were answered and my baby girl isn't here yet. She's safely waiting in the womb where she belongs. This whole episode has taught me a few things...
1. I need to be more patient, if I expect my daughter to be.
2. I have amazing family and friends who's support I am undyingly grateful for.
3. I love my husband SO much. I love that he wouldn't leave my side at the hospital and I love knowing that he would do ANYTHING for me.
4. Even though I haven't met her, my unborn baby is one of the most important things in my life. I talk to her now.

ReplyDeleteWe are all so happy you and baby are healthy and safe. Stay put Little One!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the ultrasound photos - the profile shot is my favorite. She has Phil's nose! We will be so excited to meet her when the time is just right :)
I know what you mean about feeling funny talking to your belly - it was just the other day at church when I realized he could hear me singing - and that he probably liked it and maybe I should do it more often.
Love ya sis.
oh Keola! Im glad your baby is safe. That must of being a scary experience but Im glad she is doing well in there.
ReplyDeleteI dont really talk to our baby... I feel weird about it too. I have noticed that she moves a lot when I talk so its really cool to know that she recognizes my voice, I think she either likes my voice or it annoys her haha.
Glad you all are ok!
ReplyDeleteThanks girls,
ReplyDeleteI just had another doctors appointment and the baby is doing well, but I am having frequent small contractions so hopefully this girl will just stay put. :)
Collette- I am basically on bedrest, but not completely. I have been told to stay off my feet as much as possible, but I am still teaching a class and doing things. It's SO hard to slow down.
Meghan- One of my favorite things is singing or playing music and feeling my baby move. I feel like she is dancing to the music.
Lisa- haha! I bet your baby loves your voice, esp. with your adorable accent; I do.
bedrest, bedrest. We will pray for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how scary! I'm glad baby girl stayed put and you three are doing well! Well keep you and baby in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Meghan, too cute she totally has phills nose!
