I Love Shaka Steel

This week BYU-Hawaii's steel band had a performance, the second one of the semester, and we have four more this semester. It is so fun performing and playing with such talented musicians. I have absolutely fallen in love with the sound, swing and rhythm of the steel pan, along with the music that can be created with it. It's so fun, its impossible to not like...to not dance while the music is playing. There is nothing like it. I am going to miss it a lot when I am gone from BYU-Hawaii.
My talented husband, Phil, has also played in the Steel Band, but not this semester. However, he is performing with the Salsa Band.

Just in case anyone wants to attend any of the performances this semester here's the schedule for the big concerts...
-March 11, 2011, 2-5 p.m. at the BYUH Ballroom.
-March 26,2011 at the BYUH Auditorium
-April 5, 2011 7:30 p.m. at the BYUH Auditorium

Also, while I'm at it, the play I am in, Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale" is this month, March 17, 18, 19 at the BYUH Auditorium. Fun stuff.

  2. Debbie, I just adore you... I'm not on the most recent cd they made, but I'm a fan like you. I love the fine arts (esp. music) department here, they really are incredible. I am so glad you found me and thanks for your encouragement and inspiration. Checking out your blog gives me ideas for my own. I'll keep you up to date on summer travels and such and maybe well even get to see each other this summer, I'll be in Utah for a month. :) That would be A-MAZING! Lots of love.
